Clean Startup

Clean Startup as its name suggests is a free computer desking program that can manage the programs that start automatically when you start the PC. Every time you turn on your computer, you will notice that many of the programs start automatically. While some may be useful, some may be useless may be taking the system resources, while delaying the start time. Clean Startup presents a very simple interface that helps you manage which programs to add to your startup list.

AllDup is a free program that enables you to find duplicate files on your PC. The program has a lot of options that let you find matches file size, name, date, attributes, created date and even the comparison byte by byte. You can search through multiple folders or drives. The program implements a fast algorithm and the results are very fast.

After selecting the folders to scan, simply press the scan button and the program finds and displays the results. The results are shown in the group and they also give you more information as the file name, location, size, etc. You can select the files you want to delete or you can follow the filter by using the intelligent selection can select the files on the basis that the places or dates. There are several things you can do with duplicate files. You can remove, move or copy to a new location or even change the name. While searching for mp3 files, you can choose to ignore the mp3 tags.

The program includes a viewer that lets you preview a wide variety of files. You can save search results or return later, or you can export results to text or csv. Duplicate files can be converted into hard links and shortcuts. You can search using a variety of filter masks. So if you have lots of music, videos and photos on your computer, there are plenty of possibilities that will be a lot of duplicates in them. With this tool, you can find duplicates and remove them quickly enough to free hard disk space.

The program is freeware and runs on Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Windows 7. A portable version of the application is also available.

GetFolderSize is a free utility that can be used to analyze the disk space on your hard disk. The program will scan your hard drive, USB drives, folders, etc and show you a detailed report about which folder is taking the amount of space. People who have multiple hard drives and often forget what they have been copied here and there they are certainly going to benefit.

In implementing the program, just select the drive or folder you want to scan and click the button ‘Scan’. Then, scan the drive and present you with a detailed report that shows each folder size, percentage of disk space in the folder you are using, the number of files / folders within the unit, etc. The program has a lot of customizable options. You can expand all the folders for more detailed information using the click of a button. You can see the size of the folder or disk in bytes, KB, MB or GB. You can even use it to find a file, and even delete files or send them to the recycle bin if you wish. The program also integrates with the context menu and you can directly call the program from the Explorer context menu. The report generated can be printed or can be exported to text or csv.

The interface may seem a bit complicated at first but if you want to know quickly what programs are taking up too much space on your computer, give this a shot. The program is freeware and runs on Windows 7, Windows Vista, and XP. A portable version of the program is also available.
