Apple is expected to announce the launch of its gaming console long speculated the nickname iGame. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been tightlipped about the new product and in a recent interview with Larry King described the new product as “gaming with coolness.”
The iGame is expected to take on Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony Playstation game in a very competitive space. The iGame is expected to include an application store similar to the Xbox market which will allow developers to sell their games directly. Game industry analyst Jamie Stanfield believes this will revolutionize the industry in a manner that provides greater choice and flexibility. “I’ve spoken to some very close observers in the field of Apple and although neither confirming nor denying that it is a game console, the language suggests that we can expect a next-generation console,” said Stanfield.
Expected features
In general, it is rumored that the iGame have three symmetrical cores each running at 3.8 GHz with 2MB L2 cache. The documentation and patent applications have shown that Apple has partnered with Nvidia to offer a 700 MHz processor with 25 MB of embedded DRAM graphics.
Unlike the original project designs were obtained patent document states that the iGame not have any standard controller, but characteristic of a wireless peripheral that will allow users to interact with the user interface through natural iGame using gestures or command voice.
